Facts, Not Fear
This project stems from a PSA series that Texas Folklife (TXF) developed about COVID-19 vaccine equity and dispelling myths about the virus and the vaccine. There is a gap in vaccine distribution and accurate information within the rural, Black, and Hispanic populations.
The purpose of this project is to spread awareness about the COVID-19 vaccine and let folks from these communities have a chance to share their stories about their fears related to the vaccine. TXF uses cultural, artistic, and musical methods to engage with their communities, both through social media and outreach, and with an in-person event where this zine was distributed.
1 Zine.
2 ways to read.
I designed and formatted the zine to be accessed in both Spanish and English with a simple orientation flip of the zine. Spanish pages were color-coded from the English pages and formatted for readers to have information on every other page.
Trusted Locals
It was important to highlight folks who have been vocal in the community about the vaccine.
I took special care to showcase trusted locals throughout the publication like Julieta Caamano, a social worker, and dancer in Ballet Folklorico de Austin and local band, Güateque Son.
